Of Rehoboth Beach, DE, passed away at the age of 90 on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011 at Brandywine Assisted Living in Rehoboth Beach. He was born in Cardale, PA, April 12, 1921, son of the late Gottlieb Kalinowsky and Ada Haftmann Kalinowsky. He was preceded in death by three wives, Mildred Lavin Kalinowsky in 1995, Grace Lovell Kalinowsky in 1998 and Anne T. McDevitt in 2010.
Mr. Kalinowsky retired in 1989 after more than 50 years service to the Philadelphia District Carpenters Union.
He was a member of St. Edmond's Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus, was a member of Rehoboth Beach VFW Post 7447, American Legion Post 5 and had served in the U.S. Army with service on Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge in WW II. He was an avid Horseshoe player and was a member of the Old Geezer's Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Kalinowsky and Elizabeth Skiles; and four sons, Henry, Robert, Jim and Mathew Kalinowsky, all of Pennsylvania, a brother George Kalinowsky of Ohio, two sisters, Betty Roth of North Carolina and Marie Baker of Pennsylvania; 15 grandchildren, and 11 great grand-children.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 2 PM Friday Jan. 6, at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where viewing will begin at 1 PM. Burial will be at a later date.
