The 2011 Battalion Reunion held in Fresno, California
on the 25th and 26th of May
Hosted by Lamar and Glyn Keith
With the assistance of Art and Brad Hill,
included members of Hq. Co., B & C Companies of
the 146th Engineer Combat Battalion.
It was attended by the four above mentionned and the following:
Maxine Manning, of Chikasha, OK who flew in from Oklahoma City.
Wes and Dorothy Ross of B Co., from Oswego, OR
Arthur and Rae Bassett of Hq. Co. from Hemet, CA
Arthur Bassett Jr. and wife Jennifer, from Hemet, CA
Bob and Joyce Nelson of Hq. Co. from San Jose, CA
Many other members from all our Companies were contacted and encouraged to attend but
for a variety of reasons were not able to.
We had one special guest, Tony Koorlander,
formerly with BBC,
who now lives in Bideford, England near the 146th ECB training area
of Saunton Sands.
Tony has been in contact for some time with Wes Ross, Lenny Fox, Brad Hill and Lamar Keith
concerning his project of producing a historical film of WW II's preparation for D-Day.
He brought a wealth of film of the training area as well as of the invasion of Normandy
to show them at the Museum, Legion of Merit, of which Art Hill has been its Director for years.
Although the reunion was small it was a great one on one conversation event
at the Best Western Hotel, whose Staff went all out for the group.
Good food, hospitality and prices.
This may be the last Runion of the 146th ECB, but only time will tell.
